REGISTRATION FOR CLASS XI ADMISSION – 2010
SCIENCE AND COMMERCE
 
Registration 6th April 2010 to 12th April 2010
Registration Fee Rs. 600/- only

At the time of registration one latest passport size photograph and attested photocopy of report card of Class IX & X is required.
Registration form to be filled and submitted latest by 12th April 2010.
Admission test for Science and Commerce stream will be conducted on 19th April 2010 at 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and result will be on 26th April 2010 at 9.00 a.m.
Provisional admission of Science students will be on 27th April 2010 and Commerce students will be on 28th April 2010 from 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon.
Fees for provisional class Rs. 1800/- only to be paid at the time of provisional admission.
For Science stream Mathematics Grade B1 and Science Grade A2 or an aggregate of Grade A1 and B2 in Mathematics and Science in the board exam is a must.
For Commerce stream over all Grade B2 in Maths and Grade C1 in other subjects is a must. Along with that, the result of the internal exam to be conducted after the provisional classes will also be considered for the final admission.
Provisional students who do not obtain the above said Grade and do not pass the internal exam shall have to drop out.
Those who do not attend the provisional classes for science and commerce will not be considered when they come for admission later on.

Kindly note the following points:
 Admission to class XI is only provisional. The result of the board exam is very important.
 High academic performance in the All India Secondary School Examination, Sent up examination, pre-board examination and his/her performance in Class IX and X are essential.
 Regularity in attendance and work during class IX and X is also important. Thus, only those students can be accommodated who in addition to mental ability have also displayed serious application to studies.
 Character and conduct of the candidates is a very important factor. Mere academic performance will not make the students eligible for admission to class XI. Only students with good character and conduct will be considered for admission to class XI. The Principal, in consultation with the Governing Body of the school is the final arbiter in this matter.
Provisional classes for Science and Commerce will begin from 3rd May 2010.

HOLY CROSS TADONG COMPLETES ITS 25 YEARS OF EXISTENCE IN SIKKIM

With the Advent of new dawn, Holy Cross School, Tadong celebrated its Silver Jubilee with a theme “We care to serve”. The guest of honour was Sr. Benny, Provincial Superior of the North East Province of Sisters of Mercy of Holy Cross, alongwith other distinguished personalities like Rev Fr. Michael Lepcha (Parish Priest, St. Pauls Church, Tadong), Sr. Maria Tamang, Sr. Pushpa, Sr. Sarika from Holy Cross Nursery School, Gangtok and parents.
After the introductory speech by the School Principal, Sr. Jessy Mathew, there was a declaration of the Silver Jubilee Year 2010 open by Sr. Benny. There was a release of Silver Jubilee Special items like Audio CD “Reverie – Dream come true” by Sr. Benny, Calendar by Fr. Michael and Special Silver Jubilee Badge for students by Mrs. Sobha Mukhia, who too completed her 25 years alongwith the school. The vibrant of the Jubilee Song, “Our hearts are filled with love….”could be felt in the surroundings of the school. The programme was followed by cultural activity like dances and songs presented by the both the primary and secondary section. The students also presented few of the songs from the Audio CD. The PowerPoint presentation, prepared by few of the teachers moved the hearts of many which had the historical background of the school that was shown to all the guests, students and the teachers. The programme was concluded by blessing of the school campus by sprinkling the Holy water by Fr. Michael, followed by the distribution of new school badge, jubilee calendar and sweets to the students.
“Year 2010 is a very special year for all of the teachers and students here in Holy Cross, we had taken the theme –‘We Care to Serve’ and have plans to put it into reality by performing various community service programmes throughout the year”, said one of the teacher of the School.
Sr. Jessy Mathew, the principal of the school thanked everybody who had been connected with the school directly or indirectly for their support and cooperation and for helping the school reach its present status. She also quoted that on the occasion of the silver jubilee, school will be conducting various interschool competitions the whole year and there will be a grand closing ceremony by the end of this year.

NHPC organizes a state Level Painting competition yearly to motivate the children on the school level taking a very relevant topic. This year also, they organized the competition with the topic "Save Energy Save Fuel". Around 250 students from all over Sikkim had participated, out of which 50 were selected for the final competition.

Avyash Sharma of Class VA of Holy Cross School has participated in the competition and has been selected in the first top 10 position. He has been awarded with a certificate, a cash prize of Rs. 2000/- and gift hampers from the organizers.

Holy Cross School once again triumphed with the best results in the state with no failure in the Class X Examination. It was the largest batch of 126 students where 119 students got through. School topper Zufishan Haque with 94.6% also became the state topper followed by Abid Haque & Shivani Singh with 92.8% being the 3rd positions holders in the state. The other students in the 90 marks club are Sinora Chettri with 90.8% and Nutan Kumar Ray with 90.6% Aggregate Marks.
The other remarkable point in the result was Joe Syriac who managed to secure 100 marks in Mathematics followed by Tshering Gurmy Bhutia with 99 marks.
Zufishan Haque, Sinora Chettri and Shivani Singh also managed to secure A1 in aggregate (90% and above) in all the subjects.

Priya Bansal, of Holy Cross School, Tadong became the State Topper in the Class XII Exam with a staggering 93.8% Marks in Aggregate. The others in the list are Bimarsh Gautam with 85.4% in second position and Akshay Suhag with 82.8% in the third position in the school.

Girls team of Holy Cross School stood 2nd in the Interschool 4X100 Metres Relay competition at St. Joseph's School, Martam.

St. Joseph's School, Martam organised a Interschool 4X100 Metres Relay Competition at their school. The competition was held for boys and girls. Holy Cross School also participated with the girls team securing the 2nd position among the five different participating schools. The participants from HCS were:

Boys Team: Pratish Gautam, Yadeep Chettri, Avinash Chettri & Tashi Topgay.
Girls Team: Sweta Rai, Premula Bhutia, Samiksha Sharma & Vrinda Sri Giri.

The host team presented various cultural activities alongwith the March Past by the school which was appreciated by the audience.

Holy Cross bags 5 out of 9 prizes in "On the Spot Painting Competition

The Traffic Branch of East District Police, Sikkim had conducted "On the Spot Painting Competition" on 10.04.2009 on the Theme - "Causes of Road Accidents & its prevention" during the road safety awareness week 2009. The competition was held at Tashi Namgyal Senior Secondary School Auditorium, Development Area, Gangtok.

Total of 32 students from our school from Classes IV- XII had participated for three different categories - (a) Senior School (IX-XII), (b) Middle School (VI-VIII) & (c) Junior School (IV-V).

In the senior school category, Pragya Sekhar (IX C) got the 3rd Position & Anurag Chettri (IX A) recieved the Consolation Prize. In the middle school category, Thupden Gurung (VIII B) seceived the first prize. In the Junior School category, Dipankar Roy (V A) bagged the first position.

The main motive of the competition was to educate the children on the importance of the road safety.

The first prize winner of each category received a cash prize and a certificate and all the other winners received a certificate of merit each. Total of around 200 students from all over the east district of the state had participated in the competition.

UCO 2008 Results

Saswati Mishra (Cl V) & Abhid Haque (Cl X) got a remarkable position in the Unified Council Cyber Olympiad 2008 held at Kolkata on 29th November 2008. Out of 210 students in the preliminary round of the Competition, five had qualified for the second round competition on All India level. Four of them appeared for the competition examination and two of them got a remarkable position. Saswati Mishra got the 39th position from class V and Abhid Haque managed to secure 25th position on All India level. Unified Council organizes Cyber Olympiad and National Talent Search Examination every year.
The winner gets a gift hamper from Unified Council, Bangalore.
